The otherwordly nature of these figures has always fascinated me. Each Kachina doll (also called Katsina doll) is painted with gouache on paper and based on an authentic carved doll. Because of the boldness of Hopi patterns, I have separated the colors into solid blocks while the white areas are negative space (i.e. the paper underneath).
